Syracuse Parks Department is hosting its Third Annual Kids Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at the Syracuse Community Center, North Long Drive.

This annual event is designed to educate kids on how to stay safe in a variety of settings and situations. Several local non-profits, service organizations and government agencies will pool their resources together to administer safety related activities.

Activities include fire safety, identification kits, fingerprinting clinic, bike safety course, K-9 demonstration, boating safety and life jacket demonstrations.

The groups helping administer this great event include: Syracuse Police Department, Syracuse Fire Department, Indiana State Police, Wawasee Kiwanis, Syracuse-Wawasee Trails, Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Kosciusko County Red Cross, Syracuse Lions Club and Lakeland Youth Center.

The day is sponsored by Dan Buchman of State Farm Insurance, Syracuse.

Rex Miller, former executive director at Camp Mack, shows this youngster how to tie off a boat. Cindy Peterson shows this young girl the proper way to wear a life jacket. Turkey Creek Fire Territory Firefighter Kevin Grindle helps two youngsters out of a fire safety trailer. Syracuse Reserve Police Officer Missy Mitchell fingerprints a participant.
