The monthly First Friday celebration took the Fourth of July off, but it’s returning in August with one of its best events yet. The theme for First Friday August is “Art in Action.”
Stages will be setup downtown on Center Street and Market Street. On the Center Street Stage, the United Band will be performing from 5-9 p.m., with breaks from dance troupes each hour. At 6 p.m., Deb Colliers Dancers will perform; the Astound Dancers go on at 7 p.m. and Lee Ann Stewart’s dancers go on at 8 p.m.
Over on the Market Street Stage, Bad Entertainment Dance Troupe will entertain from 6:15-7:15 p.m. Afterwards, Ruby Jazayre Belly Dancers will go on at 7:30 p.m.
Elsewhere in the downtown area there will be arts and crafts demonstrations. On Center Street there will be motorcycle and vintage tractor show.
There will be an Old National Watermelon Feast. Beverages will be served at Rex’s Beer Tent. The event is free, and the festivities start at 5 p.m. on August 1.
