Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an off-road vehicle accident with injuries that occurred today at approximately 4:30 p.m.
Brent Ransom, 45, of South Whitley, was operating a Honda TRX 300 on the Friends of The Eel River Trail in South Whitley. Ransom was traveling down a steep incline and applied the brakes, causing the machine to roll end over end. Ransom was thrown from the machine and suffered a leg injury as a result of the accident. Ransom was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Ransom was transported by ambulance to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for treatment of his injuries. Conservation Officers were assisted on scene by the South Whitley Police Department, Whitley County Sheriff’s Department and Whitley County EMS.
Conservation Officers would like to remind everyone to use caution when operating off-road vehicles, especially when traveling on steep terrain and always wear a helmet and protective riding gear.
