Officers Seek Semi Responsible For Accident

copy-136726-1399156176[UPDATE: Indiana Conservation Officers have obtained this photograph of the possible semi involved in this accident. This semi was seen on surveillance footage at a nearby Seven Eleven convenience store shortly after the accident.

The semi is believed to be a Peterbilt with a sleeper cab. Investigating officer Tyler Brock stated the driver may not have known the accident occurred and is not considered a suspect for any criminal charges at this time. The victim viewed this photograph and advised investigating officers that he is confident this is the involved semi.

Officers are searching for a semi driver responsible in an accident that seriously injured a Goshen man.

Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a personal injury accident which occurred at approximately 9:25 p.m. last evening. Marty Clawson, 36, of Goshen told investigating officer Tyler Brock that he was on foot pushing his ATV at the intersection of Lafayette and Main Streets in Goshen when the accident occurred.

Clawson stated he observed a semi traveling approximately 30 miles per hour southbound on Main St. (St.Rd.15) which was very close to the edge of the road. Clawson stated he attempted to pull his ATV out of the path of the semi however the passenger’s side rear section of the semi trailer collided with his ATV which threw Clawson against the semi trailer. The semi continued on and did not stop at the accident scene. Clawson sustained serious back injuries and the ATV sustained significant damage.

A passerby found Clawson lying in the road and called 911. Clawson was taken to IU Goshen Hospital by Goshen Fire Dept. and EMS personnel. Clawson was treated for nine fractured vertebrae and is expected to be released from the hospital today.

Officers are asking for the publics assistance in identifying the semi that was involved in the accident. It is described as a 1990’s, dark colored tractor with multiple amber marker lights on the cab pulling a light colored box trailer. The trailer may have damage to the right rear area. The semi was traveling southbound on Main St. between 9:15 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. on Friday evening.
