Downtown Warsaw was filled with the musical stylings of local musicians tonight during May’s First Friday event “Musical May”.
Acts varied throughout the evening from high school bands to violin and mandolin acts to a full, live band performance at Center Stage. Center Stage featured the musical stylings of the Bourbon Backroads Band comprised of band members: Amanda Scarberry, vocals and guitarist; Jerry Kramer, vocals and lead guitarist; Bruce Knouff, bass guitarist; and Barry Eppley, drummer. The classic rock and country music band had several tapping their toes and clapping along.
Other acts included a performance by the Warsaw Community High School jazz and pep bands under the direction of Mickey Ratliff and a performance from Lakeland Community Choir and Youth Chorale. In addition, The Matchsellers, a traveling alternative bluegrass duo comprised of Julie Bates of Kansas City who plays the violin and Andrew Morris of Warsaw who plays the mandolin were present at the event. The couple (both on and off the stage) performed inside of Creative Floral for guests of First Friday.
In additional to musical entertainment, local dance troupes were set to perform in the streets throughout the evening and vendors offered both food and wares to visitors throughout the downtown.
