On April 26, at approximately 11 p.m., officers from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department’s S.T.A.R. (Sheriff’s Teenage Alcohol Reduction) team, the Middlebury Police Department and the Bristol Police Department responded to a large party at a residence located at 14339 CR 8 in Middlebury. Upon officers arrival to the residence, multiple subjects under the age of 21 were found to have consumed alcoholic beverages.
There were 25 subjects who were arrested for Illegal Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage. Of the 25 arrested, 14 were between the ages of 18 and 20 and were cited and released. Eleven juveniles, who were between the ages of 16 and 17, were released to their parents.
Those subjects who were cited and released included: Kendon Lambright, 20; Dora Miller, 18; Jeremy Miller, 20; Lanita Miller, 18; Marc Miller, 18; Marcia Miller, 18; Beth Schwartz, 18; Sarah Slabach, 18; Daniel Troyer, 20; Naomi Wingard, 18; Derek Yoder, 18; Jason Lee Yoder, 19; Lynette Yoder, 18; and Neva Yoder, 18.
Elkhart County Sheriff’s S.T.A.R. team members assisting with the investigation included: Detective Brandon Denesuk, Ptl. Cameron McDowell, Ptl. Ryan Huff, Ptl. Kyle Perry and Ptl. Matthew Newman.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Teenage Alcohol Reduction team is comprised of officers from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department. Their main focus is to target and reduce underage drinking and smoking. S.T.A.R. members continue to deter, intervene and detect underage alcohol violations by educating the community and taking a proactive approach to deterrence and intervention prior to parties occurring.
