The environmental document has been approved on the CR 29 bridge over U.S. 6 in Elkhart County, north of Syracuse. The project will now advance to phases that include real estate acquisition, utility coordination and the project construction phase.

The environmental document is to include real estate, air quality, noise, farmland, community impacts, wetlands and waterways, flood plains, endangered species, hazardous materials, historic/archaeological and cultural resources.

The project, 80 percent federally funded and 20 percent state funded with a total cost of approximately $3 million, is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2016.

According INDOT, comments and concerns voiced at the August 2013 public hearing and submitted have been reviewed, evaluated and given full consideration as part of the project decision making process.

The document, the same as that presented at a public hearing, is available for review and available for inspection during business hours of the Syracuse Public Library, 115 E. Main St., and the Indiana Department of Transportation, Fort Wayne District Office, Planning and Programming Department, 5333 Hatfield Road, Fort Wayne.
