As of noon today, the National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for northern Indiana.
The warning indicates critical fire conditions are occurring. Winds up to 20 mph out of the east combined with relatively low humidity means wildfires could start easily and spread quickly.
Burning is not recommended throughout the afternoon and into the evening. Should a controlled burn, or any other fire, spread or get out of control, quickly call the local fire department.
Kosciusko, Whitley, Marshall, Wabash, Noble, Elkhart and Fulton Counties are affected by the warning. The warning is expected to be in effect until 8 p.m. tonight.
