It may have been a little chilly for April’s installment of First Friday, but Mother Nature kept the rain at bay, and folks came out to enjoy the festivities.
The theme for April was “Back to the Future.” There were a few classic cars out on the streets of downtown Warsaw, including a classic Chevy Bel Air, Ford Thunderbird and a Woody station wagon.
Russ Weed took the stage at Buffalo and Center Streets, singing the timeless tunes of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. Weed was a dead ringer for the Rat Pack crooners, from the smokey voice to the sharp suit and fedora.
Lily Grace the Gospel Dog and her owner Amber Utter were on scene. She was a big hit with the kiddos.
Other groups, like the American Red Cross, the Church of Latter Day Saints, Warsaw Young Tigers and Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, were represented at the event. Orthoworx had a tent set up on the courthouse lawn and was giving out popcorn. A few blocks away at the Gateway Education Center young children enjoyed an Easter egg hunt.
As the sun set on Warsaw, and Weed ended his set, a video projector fired up at the city hall parking lot. Those who dared brave the cold viewed the classic time travel flick “Back to the Future 2.”
Next month, the theme for First Friday is “Musical May.” Come out to downtown Warsaw on May 1 and enjoy a smorgasbord of local music.
