Michael G. Fincher
On Monday, Michael G. Fincher, 35, 6502 East CR 700N, Rochester, pleaded guilty to one count of theft, a class D felony.
Fincher’s charges stem from an arrest in 2013 for misuse of Mentone Youth League funds. According to a press release from Mentone Police Department, in September of 2013 members of the MYL board approached MPD after reviewing the league’s bank statements. They reported that approximately $50,000 was spent on personal items not related to MYL.
At the time of the incident Fincher was the treasurer for MYL. Police conducted an investigation into MYL’s finances for 2012 and 2013 which led to Fincher being arrested for theft.
Per the terms of the guilty plea, Fincher is to serve 1.5 years in Indiana Department of Corrections. That sentence was suspended, and Fincher was placed on formal probation with the Kosciusko County Probation Department. Fincher also agreed to pay restitution of $17,000 within seven days of the sentencing.
MYL still has the right to seek additional restitution from Fincher in civil action.
