UPDATE: Accident At US 30 and CR 150W, Warsaw

UPDATE: According to a report from the Warsaw Police Department, at approximately 8:38 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, Jordan R. Snoke, 23, 1829 Crescent Drive, Warsaw, was traveling eastbound on Lake City Highway at a high rate of speed.

Snoke ran the red light at the intersection of US 30 and Silveus Crossing in Warsaw and collided with a vehicle driven by Bailey A. Hammel, 17, CR 450N, Warsaw.

After the collision, Snoke’s vehicle continued eastward on US 30, crossing the median and traveling into the westbound lane of US 30. Snoke’s vehicle came to a rest on its passenger side in an embankment on the roadside.

Hammel, Snoke and Alyson Grindle, 15, North Knollwood Drive, Warsaw, a passenger in Hammel’s vehicle were transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital for injuries. Chaise R. Belcher, 23, CR 175E, Warsaw, the passenger in Snoke’s vehicle, was airlifted to Lutheran Hospital and later released.

Officers at the scene determined that alcohol was a factor in the accident. Snoke was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of reckless driving and OWI causing serious bodily injury, with prior. He is being held on a $10,000 surety bond. Results of a blood test are still pending.

The eastbound lane of US 30 was closed for two hours after the incident; the westbound lane was closed for nearly an hour and a half while Lutheran Air Ambulance was on scene.

The Kosciusko F.A.C.T. Team, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, Multi-Township EMS and Warsaw Fire Department assisted at the scene. Damages were estimated at up to $50,000.

INITIAL REPORT (8:43 p.m. March 24): Authorities are currently responding to a multiple vehicle accident near the intersection of US 30 and CR 150W in Warsaw. Eastbound traffic lanes on US 30 are shut down.

One of the individuals involved is being airlifted to Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital, others were treated at the scene for minor injuries. (Initial report by Jarrett Van Meter)
