Approval was given for the Tippecanoe Lake Country Club for an existing tiki bar and service area outside the building by the Kosciusko County Board of Zoning Appeals, but for one season only. The petition was among the regular agenda items considered by the BZA at its regular monthly meeting Tuesday in Warsaw.

Dan Richard, area planning director, said remonstrators were concerned about noise, trespassing and also some using trees or bushes for a restroom instead of a proper facility. Therefore the board granted approval for one season only to see how it works and then will reevaluate it at that time. The property is located on EMS T36 Lane, south of Kalorama Road in Tippecanoe Township.

Also during Tuesday’s meeting, the BZA granted approval for Camero Enterprises to allow a marina, Clarks Marina, at the intersection of CR 800N and SR 13 in Tippecanoe Township. There will be three buildings and as a condition for the approval, outside storage must be kept behind screening at least 6 feet tall.

Other agenda items included:

• Jeffrey Kellam was granted a variance to allow residence additions to his property on Dusty’s Road at Yellow Creek Lake in Seward Township, but only a hot tub is allowed on the lake side.

• Steve and Sue Frecker were granted an exception to allow a boat storage building to be built on their property on CR 450N, west of CR 475E in Tippecanoe Township.

• The petition for Curtis and Susan French for a garage addition was tabled until the March 10 meeting because their measurements were inaccurate. Their property is on EMS W17 Lane, southwest of EMS W18A Lane in Tippecanoe Township.

• Kenneth and Sharon Kaiser were granted a variance to allow air ducts to remain below required flood elevation on their property on Marine Key Drive in Turkey Creek Township, but a restrictive covenant is required to put future owners of the property on notice.

• Troy and David Snider’s petition for a variance to allow a tract of ground to remain as created without 50 feet of ownership of road frontage was tabled until the March 10 meeting. They must present a property deed showing ownership of the 50 feet of road frontage. The property is on CR 1150N in Van Buren Township.

• Todd Cleveland’s petition to allow a shed to remain as placed 8 feet from the water’s edge on Northshore Drive, west of Eastshore Drive in Turkey Creek Township, was denied. There are no other sheds in the surrounding area that close to the shore and he must have it removed by July 1.

• Kay Hervey was granted a variance to replace an old residence with a new one on Lakewood Avenue at Winona Lake.

• And Kenneth Mullett was allowed to have a truck trailer as an accessory building on CR 750W in Jefferson Township due to the improvements he has made to the trailer to make it appear as though it is not a trailer.
