Michael Shea Gray
Michael Shea Gray, 41, 5597 E. CR 700S, Pierceton was arrested early this morning on a charge of aiding, inducing or causing burglary, a class B felony and aiding, inducing or causing theft, a class D felony, both charges filed on May 22, 2014.
Court documents state on May 16, police were notified by an individual who returned home to find her home entered and ransacked. A number of items were taken including an Eddie Bauer bag, Eagle figurine, jewelry box, Bissel sweeper, craftsman hand tools and laundry items.
Police, according to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Kosciusko County Detective JD Ayers, states names of several suspects were given to police. The investigation also discovered on May 17, Whitley County Sheriff’s Officers received a tip that Gray’s vehicle was involved in a burglary in their county and located in the area of Sellers Lake.
Officers located the vehicle and Gray. During a search, items from the Whitley County burglary were found inside the vehicle as well as items reported stolen on May 16.
A second suspect, Gray’s wife, told police she would go to a house, kick the door open and go inside the residence, remove the items and place them in the vehicle, where Gray was waiting. Some of the items were returned to a story for that store’s credit card or sold to individuals for cash. The money was used to purchase perfume.
Gray confirmed what his wife told police adding that he also watched the homes for people to leave.
He was also arrested for probation violation at the same time. His bond was set at $30,000 surety.
