Indiana Conservation Officers arrested Ronald Haskins, 40, and Zachary Ducey, 24, both of North Webster, for operating an all terrain vehicle while intoxicated Saturday, Jan. 24, at approximately 11:30 p.m.
Conservation Officer Tyler Brock received a complaint of two ATVs operating recklessly on Webster Lake. Brock located Haskins and Ducey a short time later near EMS W 30 Lane. Brock, during his investigation, suspected the two of alcohol consumption and determined by a certified breath test that Haskins had a BAC of .143 and Ducey had a BAC of .128.
Indiana Conservation Officers want to remind the public that operating an ATV while consuming alcohol is an illegal and very dangerous act. When that is coupled with operating the ATV on a frozen lake the danger level is greatly enhanced.
Please always wear your helmets, seat belts, and other necessary protective gear while operating or a passenger on an ATV. These criminal charges are preliminary and both men are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Brock was assisted at the scene by officers from the North Webster Police Department, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deptartment and the Indiana State Police.
