The career counseling program at Tippecanoe Valley High School has been bolstered as of late due to being sponsored through WorkOne.
WorkOne is an organization that connects individuals with employers and vice versa. The implementation into schools gives students and added resource for exploring the options that exist for them after their high school experience ends.
TVHS is identifying students, through test results, who are eligible to use the counseling service set up with WorkOne to help them gain useful knowledge in regards to various career paths and universities they may have an interest in. There is also an effort in place to identify students with weaknesses in particular subject areas and provide remediation to help them improve.
WorkOne representative Sandy Rivers has been working closely with students at TVHS. According to Stephanie Anglin, the junior and senior counselor at the high school, “Ms. Rivers works with a small group of students weekly during our Student Resource Time, providing resources to increase college and career readiness skills to students with qualifying PSAT scores. She also provides workshops that are open to all students to increase college and career skills for their post-secondary goals.”
Tippy Valley School Corporation Superintendent Brett Boggs also expressed his pleasure with the program, and noted,”We are thankful for the services being provided at Tippecanoe Valley High School by Sandy Rivers and WorkOne. Career counseling is so vital to the future success of our young people that whenever a valuable resource such as this is made available to our schools we will take full advantage of it.”
