Tyler C. Harkins, 25, North Fifth Street, North Webster, complained of pain to the back after the 2010 Nissan he was driving rolled over on SR 13, north of North Syracuse-Webster Road, Sunday evening. The accident was at 7:15 p.m.
A witness, Randall E. Woodcock, North Sullivan Road, Leesburg, told police he was following Hawkins at normal speeds when he saw Hawkins’ vehicle go off the right side of the roadway, hit a mailbox and then back onto the roadway. The vehicle then rolled over, landing on it’s wheels.
Hawkins told police two deer crossed in front of him and he attempted to steer away from the deer, but hit the mailbox. He stated he then tried correcting the steering, which caused the vehicle to roll over. He also admitted to police of being on multiple pain medications.
He will be cited for a driving while suspended infraction with additional charges possible pending blood test results.
Damage was estimated up to $25,000.
INITIAL: Emergency crews and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department are en route to a vehicle accident on SR 13, near North Webster. The accident was south of CR 800N.
North Webster EMS, Fire and Police responded along with Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.
At least one person was injured. Traffic was temporarily re-routed on Syracuse-Webster Road and CR 800N until the scene could be cleared up.
