Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Deputies were alerted at 8 a.m. Tuesday by a student that an unknown subject had offered them a ride while walking to the bus stop near the area of CR 45 and CR 13.

Though the person never exited the vehicle or attempted to get the student into their vehicle, the person drove away after being told “no” by the student.

The student described the driver as an Indian male in his 20s who had a thin mustache and a turban on his head. He was driving an older dark blue Dodge Durango.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Deputies will continue conducting extra patrols in and around school zones in an effort to locate suspicious activity. Those who observe suspicious persons or vehicles are encouraged to report this to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department by calling (574) 533-4151.
