State Representative Rebecca Kubacki (R-Syracuse) was presented with the Friend of Children Award by the Indiana Association of Resources and Child Advocacy on Tuesday.
“The children of Indiana have benefited from her service to all citizens over the past four years, and we know that she will continue to advocate for what she believes is right,” said Cathy Graham, Executive Director for IARCA. “Because of all that she has done to promote better outcomes for the children of Indiana, we are pleased to call Rep. Kubacki a ‘Friend of Children.’”
IARCA is a statewide association which represents around 90 agencies in Indiana. They provide a broad spectrum of services including residential care, foster care, transitional and independent living, home-based services, shelter care and crisis stabilization. The agencies are dedicated to supporting children and family services in any way they can.
“I am incredibly honored to receive this recognition from such a wonderful association,” said Rep. Kubacki. “I believe we have no greater responsibility as citizens than to protect and advocate for children of abuse and neglect. We need to stand up and speak on their behalf to assure them that we will not abandon them. We only have to pick up a daily newspaper to realize how much work we still have to do and how many children need our help. I am grateful to organizations such as IARCA for their tireless work to help Hoosier children.”
As chairman of the House Family, Children and Human Affairs Committee, Rep. Kubacki’s priority was to keep children safe, well fed and stimulated. Various bills were heard in the committee which dealt with updating many safety standards in daycare settings. This ensured that every parent has access to the best possible care and safety.
