Screenshot of information seemingly proving an allegation against Curt Nisly that, through his business, he is able to geolocate people most likely to vote in the upcoming election.

In an interview with the Elkhart Truth last week, Elkhart County Clerk Wendy Hudson stated that any candidate has access to voter data available to the Republican nominee. The Kolbe Campaign reiterates its concerns regarding voter data only available to the nominee.

If one were to view the source code for www.elkhartcountyclerk.com, one would see that C-Tech Solutions Inc. used an open source service called Joomla to create the Elkhart County Clerk/Elkhart County Election Board’s website.

Joomla also offers other services that track the data of visitors to a particular site. For example, a Joomla extension called “Content Statistics” (http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/site-management/analytics/ site-analytics/16563) allows the site administrator to view a wide range of analytics, one such being IP address geolocation.

This deeply concerns the Kolbe Campaign because the nominee, through his business dealings with the clerk’s office, is able to geolocate people most likely to vote in the upcoming election.

In a press released issued this afternoon, the Kolbe campaign said, “We renew our call for Ms. Hudson to sever all remaining ties to C-Tech Solutions Inc. and the nominee. Citizens have a reasonable expectation that when they access a government website, their contact information will not be freely accessible to a partisan political candidate.”

Kolbe (D-Warsaw), Nisly (R-New Paris) and independent candidate Michael Stinfer of Warsaw, are running for Indiana House District 22 Representative.
