The Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service Northern Indiana has extended the advisory to 4 p.m. Thursday.

The snow is expected to expand across northern Indiana and northwestern Ohio tonight through Thursday afternoon.

NWS is stating the band of light to moderate snow across far southern lower Michigan falling this afternoon will transition and expand southward toward evening hours. The snow will persist across the entire area through the night into much of Thursday before tapering off.

NWS is reporting 3 to 5 inches of snow has already fallen in many locations north of U.S. 30 with the highest amounts generally north of U.S. 6. An additional 3 to 6 inches are expected across the advisory area through Thursday morning.

Those traveling to work Thursday morning should be prepared to encounter hazardous driving conditions.

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities and use caution when driving.
