Intimidation with a deadly weapon charge has been leveled against a North Webster man who allegedly threatened to kill another man with a sword over an alleged affair.

North Webster Police and officers of the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department report that Mark E. Bowser, 56, is charged with a Level 5 felony after he attempted to intimidate a male subject with a razor sharp sword.

The victim called 911 on Aug. 1 when Bowser followed the victim to a residence in the 9300 block of East Koher Road South. In the driveway, Bowser allegedly approached the victim in his convertible and placed the sword against his throat stating he was going to kill the man. The victim said he was able to push the sword away by its hilt as Bowser attempted to cut him, and immediately called 911.

When North Webster Police Officer David May located Bowser’s vehicle at 221 S. Main St., North Webster, he observed a sword in the vehicle. KCSD Officer Chris Anderson arrived and spoke with Bowser, who said he had exchanged “choice words” with the victim and that he did present the sword “to place fear because (the victim) is always smirking and making obscene gestures to him,” according to the probable cause affidavit. Bowser further said the victim is having an affair with his wife.

Bowser was arrested and held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $4,000 surety bond.
