A new, 10-foot carving is catching the eyes of passersby and neighbors alike at a residence on Sunset Drive in Warsaw.
The carving is being constructed by Doug Ricks, who has been carving statues from trees for the past 17 years. Ricks, a lifetime lover of art, noted that he has carved several sculptures along area lakes as well as for area businesses.
Ricks explained that his love for art has encouraged him to pursue carving as a full-time hobby. He performs carving demonstrations for Bass Pro Shop in Portage twice a year.
Ricks stated that the lighthouse carving will take 2 full days of carving and will be completed on Tuesday.
