The 12th Annual Sale of Champions saw 17 4-H champion and reserve champion animals go up on the auction block as well as the 4-H king and queen kisses tonight. Several younger 4-Hers looked a little unsure about whether they wanted to auction their animals off during the bidding process.
Representatives of Milford 4-H Clubs (some members live in Leesburg) represented the majority of animals and the Queen’s Kiss up for bid.Approximately $61,370 was raised, although final numbers weren’t in at press time.
The grand champion steer, owned by Jackson Templin, a member of the Milford Helping Hands 4-H Club, sold for $8,635. Templin is from Leesburg and the son of Terry and Karen Templin.
Kalea Amiss sold her reserve grand champion beef steer for $3,000. Amiss is from Claypool, the daughter of Shannon and Becky Amiss, and is a member of the Claypool Classics 4-H Club.

Jared Templin sold his grand champion dairy steer for $3,950. He is from Milford, the son of Terry and Karen Templin, and is a member of Milford Helping Hands 4-H Club.
Ashley Beer sold her grand champion dairy feeder steer for $2,700. She is from Milford, the daughter of Randy and Deb Beer, and is a member of Milford Helping Hands 4-H Club.
Jared Beer sold his reserve grand champion dairy calf feeder steer for $3,300. He is from Milford, the son of Marc and Jodi Beer, and a member of Milford Helping Hands 4-H Club.
Evan Wood sold his grand champion rabbit meat pen for $1,350. He is from Claypool, the son of Brent Wood, and a member of Monroe Go-Getters.
Elizabeth Schmidt sold her reserve grand champion rabbit meat pen for $1,200. She is from Warsaw, the daughter of James and April Schmidt, and a member of Leesburg Mighty Farmers 4-H Club.
Danielle Jenkins sold her grand champion specialty meat goat for $2,500. She is from Milford, the daughter of Gary and Tonya Jenkins, and is a member of Milford Helping Hands 4-H Club.
In the photo above, Evan Wood of Claypool auctioned off his grand champion market rabbits-meat pen for $1,350. This is Wood’s second year in 4-H.
Ethan Moore sold his grand champion dairy market goat for $2,000. He is from Warsaw, the son of Tim and Janet Moore, and a member of the Kosciusko County 4-H Goat Club.
Jeremiah Wilson sold his grand champion senior doe – goat milk for $950. He is from Claypool, the son of Joel and Elizabeth Wilson, and a member of Mentone United 4-H Club.
Mallory Bowers sold her grand champion market lamb for $4,055. She is from Warsaw, the daughter of Kraig Bowers and Jody Titus and a member of Mentone United 4-H Club.
Four-H Queen Hannah Tucker raided $1,100 for her kiss with the proceeds going to the Beef Barn and Kosciusko County 4-H Livestock Judging Team. She shared her kiss with Mark Conley and Corbin Billing. Tucker is from Milford, the daughter of Steve and Valerie Tucker and a member of Milford Successful 4-Hers.
Four-H King Cody Demske raised $535 for his kiss with the proceeds going toward the Junior Leader Memorial Garden. Anna Seewald, age 2, was the lucky recipient of his kiss. Seewald was more interested in waving to the crowd from the safety of her mom, Amy’s, arms than at being kissed by Demske.

Emma Robinson sold her reserve grand champion barrow for $5,500. She is from Silver Lake, the daughter of Tricia Ayers and Richard Robinson, and is a member of Silver Lake Rambling Farmers.

Casey Dierks sold her grand champion turkey for $1,250. She is from Claypool, the daughter of Kris and Beverly Dierks and a member of the Monroe Go-Getters 4-H Club.
In photo above, A kiss from 4-H King Cody Demske of Claypool went for $535 and was awarded to Anna Seewald, 2, shown being held by her mom Amy Seewald. Anna wasn’t sure she wanted to be kissed, but she loved waving to the crowd.
