Yesterday the town of Syracuse was left heartbroken with the news of the death of 12-year-old Skyler Spore, who passed away unexpectedly in his home at 202 W. Washington St, Syracuse.

Today, as family and friends grapple for answers, good samaritans throughout the community are working on raising a memorial fund for the young boy who “knew how to make everyone smile”.

“During this tragedy, we are asking for donations for the Spore family,” explains Brittany Bushong, creator of the GoFundMe.com page where donations are being collected. “The family of 12-year-old Skyler Spore is heartbroken after his unexpected death. They say he was a football and basketball fanatic who always knew how to make everyone smile.”

Donations are currently being collected via a GoFundMe.com account with a goal of raising $1,000 to offset final arrangement costs for the family. For those interested in donating, visit http://www.gofundme.com/awhqag.

The death of Skyler Spore, 12, 202 W. Washington St., Syracuse, is continuing with an autopsy to be conducted at the Northeast Forensic Center in Fort Wayne. More information will be released when it is gathered and confirmed.

Turkey Creek Fire Territory EMS was called at 3:47 p.m. yesterday to the residence on a report of a 12-year-old not breathing. When paramedics arrived it was determined Spore was deceased inside the residence.

An investigation into the death by the Syracuse Police Department, Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office, Department of Child Services and the Kosciusko Major Crimes Task Force is being conducted.

The residence was occupied by the deceased, his parents Darrick Spore and Candy Chamness along with another sibling. All were present in the home at the time of the death.

There were two gas powered generators running inside the residence at the time of Spore’s death. It is unknown at this time if those played a role in the death.
