The 69th annual North Webster Mermaid Festival was kicked off with area cuties “Return To Camelot” Wednesday night.
This year’s Cutie Parade had so many entries the parade had a delayed start by 10 minutes. Over 70 entries of children ages 14 and under participated in walking, hand drawn or motorized conveyances.
Many princesses, queens, wizards, knights and kings came to North Webster including a few Kennedys.
Unlike last year’s parade, where rain started falling just after the start and many spectators finding cover under trees and awnings, this year spectators were seeking the shade of buildings and trees.
Winners of this year’s parade will be announced Friday evening at the Cutie King and Queen Contest. The contest begins at 7 p.m. in the North Webster Community Center gymnasium.
The 2015 Mermaid Festival, marking the 70th year, will have a theme of “Back to the ’70s”
