Impersonating a police officer, a Cromwell man is facing a D felony after initiating a traffic stop on a Syracuse youth.
Jaccob Denver Jensen, 25, of Cromwell, admitted to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputy that on May 30, he impersonated a police officer by stopping a vehicle on East Doswill Boulevard near Enchanted Hills for what he referred to as reckless driving.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Jensen was returning home from fishing when another vehicle was tailgating him. When the driver passed Jensen’s gray Cadillac, Jensen activated two flashing lights mounted in the grill of his vehicle. He also had an audible siren installed in his car, which was also activated.
Jensen admitted that he obtained the teen driver’s license and registration and took it back to his vehicle to write down the information. When he returned, the teen asked to see a badge, but Jensen said he had forgotten it at home.
If convicted, Jensen could be sentenced from 6 months to 3 years in jail and pay a fine up to $10,000.
