The Warsaw Community School Board met today for a special, public meeting of the board to discuss the proposed superintendent contract of David Hoffert, currently the assistant superintendent of WCS.

The Warsaw Community Schools Board of Trustee first announced on May 2 that David Hoffert will be named Superintendent of Schools, effective July 1. He will replace Dr. Craig Hintz, who is retiring as of June 30.

On May 13, the school board heard the first of the two public meetings to allow for public input on Hoffert’s proposed contract.   Though the board allowed for public feedback, no community members attended to offer input on the contract (see related).

According to Hoffert’s contract, he will have an annual base salary of $140,000 for 2014-2015. In addition, Hoffert will be granted $4,200 for annual teacher retirement fund contribution, a $2,000 waiver of health insurance premium stipend, $1,339 for annual group dental insurance contribution, an estimated $100 for annual long term disability premium contribution, $200 annual term life premium contribution and $884 for an annual technology allowance.

The total of proposed contract details is listed at $148,723. Hoffert’s salary is reportedly set to be in the middle of a range of other first time superintendent salaries at area schools.

The vote to accept Hoffert’s contract was a unanimous vote of all board members present with a vote of 6-0. Though Delores Hearn was absent during the vote, WCS School Board President Jennifer Tandy noted that Delores was included during the discussions on Hoffert’s contract and was in support of the board’s decision.
